Editorial Policies

Aim and Scope

Main objectives of the Journal are: consolidation of scientific and practical achievements in the field of drug therapy of immunological and oncological diseases.

Scientific concept of the Journal suggests publication of current achievements in the field of drug therapy of immunological and oncological diseases, results of the research studies, results of national and international pre-clinical and clinical studies.

The Journal invites both national and international authors – scientists and doctors who work in oncology and other relevant areas.  

The Journal presents results of the studies of new biomarkers of oncological and immune diseases, the use of biomarkers in diagnostics and therapy of tumors and disorders of the immune system, studies in the field of   drug therapy, studies of drug development technologies, pre-clinical and clinical studies of new drugs and methods of treatment.  

The Journal publishes materials of the annual scientific practical conference with international participation "National Anti-Tumor Drugs ", as well as announcements of Russian and International symposiums, conferences, and congresses in oncology .

Open Access Policy

"Russian Journal of Biotherapy" is an open access journal. All articles are made freely available to readers immediatly upon publication.

Our open access policy is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition - it means that articles have free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.

Peer-Review

  1. All materials are registered at receipt in the registration log.
  2. The editor checks materials compliance with specialization and typography of the journal.
  3. The editorial board examines scripts and assigns reviewers (composition of the editorial board is shown on the journal front page).
  4. Reviewers provide the editorial office with a printed (signed)/electronic substantiated review within 15 days.
  5. The editorial board discusses reviews.
  6. Scripts are sent back to authors along with a review for corrections or are published in Russian Biotherapeutics Journal in case when reviewers have no comments
  7. All reviews are kept at the editorial office of Russian Biotherapeutics Journal not less than 5 years
  8. Reviews copies may be sent to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation after receipt of a corresponding request

 

Indexation

Articles in "Russian Journal of Biotherapy"  are indexed by several systems:

  • Russian Scientific Citation Index (RSCI) – a database, accumulating information on papers by Russian scientists, published in native and foreign titles. The RSCI project is under development since 2005 by “Electronic Scientific Library” foundation (elibrary.ru).
  • Google Scholar is a freely accessible web search engine that indexes the full text of scholarly literature across an array of publishing formats and disciplines. The Google Scholar index includes most peer-reviewed online journals of Europe and America's largest scholarly publishers, plus scholarly books and other non-peer reviewed journals.

Publishing Ethics

The editorial board and editorial office of “Russian Journal of Biotherapy” are committed to universally recognized principles of publishing ethics based on the standards adopted by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

In order to avoid unfair practice in publications (such as plagiarism, presenting unreliable data, etc.), in order to provide the highest quality of publications, and to achieve recognition of the author’s results by scientific community, every member of the editorial board, author, peer reviewer, publisher, and organization involved in the publishing process should follow the ethical standards, regulations and rules, and make all reasonable efforts to prevent infringement of publishing ethics. Commitment of all participants of the publishing process to stick to the standards of publishing ethics provides the preservation of copyrights, improvement of the publication quality, and prevents any unfair use of author’s materials.

  

Duties of the Editor (Editorial Board)

The Editor (Editorial Board) shall do the following:

  • Improve the journal on the constant basis;
  • Provide the principle of free exchange of opinions;
  • Strive to meet the needs of the readers and authors of the Journal;
  • Prevent influence of business or politics interests on making decisions for publications;
  • Decide which submitted article is worth publishing on the base of the following criteria: conformity of the manuscript to the Journal’s thematic area, relevance, novelty, and scientific significance of the submitted article, clear style of presentation, reliable results, and complete conclusions. The quality and relevance of the research are the basics for making decision of publication;
  • Provide all reasonable measures to ensure best quality publications and protect confidentiality of personal information;
  • Protect confidentiality of the information of the submitted article except for the authors, reviewers, possible reviewers, or unless otherwise specified;
  • Consider reviewers’ recommendations in making final decision of accepting the article for publication. The Editorial Board of the Journal is fully responsible for the article publication;
  • Justify the decision in the case of adoption or rejection of the article;
  • Provide an opportunity for the author of the reviewed manuscript to make rationale for his/her research strategy;
  • Pursue the decision of the article publication of the previous editorial board in case of the changes in the editorial board members.

 

Duties of the Author

Submitting an article to a scientific journal authors and co-authors should:

  • Be aware that authors are primarily responsible for novelty and reliability of the results of their research;
  • Submit only authentic facts and information; present sufficient information to make it available for checking and replicating experiments by other researchers; not use information obtained in private without disclosed written permission; prevent any fabrication and falsification of data;
  • Ensure that the research results reported in the submitted manuscript present their original data. The parts of the work or statements taken from other authors should be appropriately cited or quoted with the indication of the author or the primary sources. If other author’s information is given with no appropriate references, this will be treated as plagiarism;
  • Avoid duplicating publications (in the cover letter the author should notify that the article is submitted for the first time). If some parts of the manuscript were published before, the author should refer to the previous publication and indicate the differences between the previous and the new articles;
  • Follow ethical rules when criticizing or commenting on research by third parties;
  • Respect the work of editorial board and reviewers and correct the shortcomings or give justified explanations;
  • Submit and prepare a manuscript according to the Journal format and Guides to Authors;
  • Present evidence of the correct initial version of the article to the editorial board or publisher and correct essential errors if the editorial board or publisher learn about them from third parties;
  • In case of revealing essential errors or inaccuracy in the article at the stage of its consideration or after its publication, the author should immediately notify the editorial board about these findings.

 

Duties of the Reviewer

 

Reviewers provide an expert peer review of author’s materials and therefore reviews should be conducted objectively and implement the following principles:

  • A manuscript received for peer review should be treated as a confidential document and should not be given to third parties for discussion or review if they are not empowered by the editorial board;
  • Reviewers must know that manuscripts they have received are author’s intellectual property and refer to information that must not be disclosed. Infringement of confidentiality may occur only in cases if the reviewer claims unreliable or forgery materials reported in the article;
  • Reviewers should pay attention to substantial or partial similarity of the reviewed manuscript with any other article, as well as lack of references to arguments, statements or conclusions reported previously in the articles of the same or other authors;
  • Reviewers must give objective and justified evaluation of the reported results and reasonable recommendations. Personal criticism of the author is unacceptable;
  • Reviewers must make objective and essential comments and recommendations to improve scientific range of the manuscript;
  • Unpublished materials of the submitted article must not be used in the reviewer’s own interest;
  • Any reviewer who feels unqualified for evaluation of the manuscript or might not be objective, if for instance they have conflict of interests with the author or the organization, should notify the editor and decline to participate in the review process of this manuscripr.

 

Conflict of Interests

In order to avoid infringement of publication ethics it is necessary to exclude conflict of interests of all parties taking part in article publication process.  Conflict of interests occurs in case if authors, reviewers and members of the editorial board have any financial, scientific or personal relations that may influence their activities. To prevent conflict of interests and to implement adopted ethical regulations of “Russian Journal of Biotherapy” each party has the following responsibilities:

Editor should:

  • Give the manuscript for review to another member of the editorial board if the primarily appointed reviewer has conflict of interests with the author of the submitted article;
  • Request all  members of the publication process to disclose any information of possible conflict of interests;
  • Make a decision about publishing the information indicated in the author’s letter that refers to the conflict of scientific and/or financial interests if it is not confidential and may influence the recognition of the published article by readers or scientific community;
  • Provide corrections if the information on conflict of interests is received after article publication.

Author should:

  • Indicate author’s place of work and the source of the research financing.

Reviewer should:

  • Inform Editor-in-Chief about conflict of interests (double responsibilities, competing interests) and decline the review process of the articles.

Publication in Russian Journal of Biotherapyis free of charge for all the authors.

The journal doesn't have any Arcticle processing charges.

The journal doesn't have any Article submission charges.

 

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer’s own research without the express written consent of the author. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.

Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

 

Plagiarism detection

"Russian Journal of Biotherapy" use native russian-language plagiarism detection software Antiplagiat to screen the submissions. If plagiarism is identified, the COPE guidelines on plagiarism will be followed.

 

Preprint and postprint Policy

Prior to acceptance and publication in "Russian Journal of Biotherapy", authors may make their submissions available as preprints on personal or public websites.

As part of submission process, authors are required to confirm that the submission has not been previously published, nor has been submitted. After a manuscript has been published in "Russian Journal of Biotherapy" we suggest that the link to the article on journal's website is used when the article is shared on personal or public websites.

Glossary (by SHERPA)

Preprint - In the context of Open Access, a preprint is a draft of an academic article or other publication before it has been submitted for peer-review or other quality assurance procedure as part of the publication process. Preprints cover initial and successive drafts of articles, working papers or draft conference papers.

Postprint - The final version of an academic article or other publication - after it has been peer-reviewed and revised into its final form by the author. As a general term this covers both the author's final version and the version as published, with formatting and copy-editing changes in place.
